Speaking from personal experience, I can attest to the struggles of dealing with acne. It can seem as though no matter what skin care routine or new products you try to use, your skin will stay clear for a little while and then you’ll wake up one morning to an unwanted blemish on your face. When I was in high school, I struggled with coping with my acne. I would often wear makeup in attempts to cover the redness of my blemishes, however, I didn’t realize until later that I was only progressively making my blemishes worse. I also had a bad habit of picking at my blemishes and trying to pop them, yet would find it difficult to get rid of the dark mark it left behind. 

Your face is the first thing people notice and look at and it can be difficult to feel confident and self-assured when you are experiencing unwanted blemishes. However, though it may be difficult and disappointing witnessing such blemishes, it is important to stay confident in yourself and ensure you feel beautiful and radiate positivity at all times. Though I struggled with blemishes on my face that often took a knock to my confidence, I would always make sure to remind myself that I am beautiful, recite affirmations to myself, and make sure I was radiating positivity at all times, as well as remind myself and help myself realize that these blemishes are temporary and can be fixed. Once I was able to understand this, my skincare game was unstoppable. 

Taking the time to research products and test different products on my skin, I was able to determine which products worked best for my skin’s needs and fought off my acne for good. Admittingly so, I have changed up my skincare routine a couple of times. However, I am pleased with my current skincare routine and am even more excited that the majority of the products I use to help fight off my acne are Black-owned products.
